Arbitrary Zero

Don’t know where else to post this.

I dread reading most journalism that pertains to my interests because it treats the audience as default male EVEN when the publication is not explicitly for men. Why is this off-putting? Because my whole life people have treated me as a freak for liking things they categorized as male interests instead of just interests. People don’t know what to do with me if I don’t collect bridal magazines or don’t care about celebrities, makeup trends, or weight loss tips. I don’t think many people, especially men, understand how writing which doesn’t inspect its own gender bias can be rather excluding. Then they add features to these “not exclusively aimed at men” publications which exploit women and their bodies. This leads me to not visit sites, not buy magazines, etc. so it’s not just hurting me, it’s hurting business, too. Do businesses not care about getting more customers?

TL;DR, your bias is showing.
